Efeito da reabilitação por exercício, estimulação muscular neuromuscular e massagem na recuperação do acidente vascular cerebral e da hipertensão isquémica: um ensaio randomizado

Resumo

Introdução: O AVC é uma das cinco principais causas de morte e uma das principais causas de incapacidade. O AVC é uma condição que ocorre quando os vasos sanguíneos cerebrais são bloqueados por um coágulo ou explosão, impedindo o cérebro de receber os nutrientes e o oxigénio necessários, resultando na morte celular.

Objectivo: Este estudo teve como objectivo examinar os efeitos do exercício de corpo inteiro (ECB), da estimulação neuromuscular elétrica (ENE) e da massoterapia na força muscular facial e corporal, na gravidade do AVC, na acuidade visual e na pressão arterial em doentes com AVC isquémico.

Métodos: Foi realizado um ensaio clínico randomizado com 180 doentes do sexo masculino elegíveis para tratamento trombolítico. Foram alocados a um grupo experimental (n = 90), que recebeu EBB, ENC e massagem, e a um grupo controlo (n = 90), que seguiu reabilitação padrão em regime de internamento. A intervenção teve a duração de 12 semanas, com quatro sessões de 30 a 40 minutos por semana. As avaliações pré e pós-intervenção incluíram a Escala Motora de Los Angeles (LAMS), o IOPI, a Escala Muscular do MRC, a pressão arterial e a acuidade visual. A ANCOVA foi utilizada para a análise estatística.

Resultados: O grupo experimental apresentou melhoria na gravidade do AVC, na força muscular e na acuidade visual. No entanto, algumas variáveis ​​não atingiram significância estatística (e.g., ECM, p = 0,075; PAS, p = 0,092). Não se verificaram diferenças no peso corporal. As taxas de abandono não foram reportadas.

Conclusão: Embora os resultados tenham sido promissores, a falta de significância estatística em diversas medidas limita a robustez das conclusões. Estudos futuros com maior rigor metodológico e amostras maiores são necessários.
