Decision-making and motor decision in handball: relationships of proximity and distancing with motor praxeology

Abstract

Introduction: Decision-making in sports has attracted significant interest from scholars over the years. However, an innovative perspective emerges through Motor Praxeology (PM), a scientific theory grounded in the study of the internal logic of games and sports. By creating its own "grammar," PM introduces the concept of motor decision.

Objective: The aim was to identify and present the main aspects addressed in the concept of decision-making in handball and its relations with the concept of motor decision, indicating the relationships of approximation and distancing.

Methodology: To achieve this, a search for bibliographic references was conducted to understand the literature's discourse on decision-making. Motor Praxeology established itself as the guiding theory of the discussions, characterizing this study as theo-retical, qualitative, and exploratory research.

Results: Through searches in the PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases, six studies were selected to integrate the scope of this study.

Discussion: The concepts of decision-making are based on cognitive aspects, environmental information, and the choice of options, encompassing other protagonists of the sport besides players. On the other hand, the concept of motor decision, sup-ported by praxeological knowledge, emerges as an innovative and exclusive concept in the field of bodily manifestations, limited to the performance of players and enabling the understanding of the specific characteristics of the game.

Conclusions: Motor decision, supported by Motor Praxeology, provides a more dynamic and contextualized understanding of decision-making in handball, emphasizing the interaction players establish with the four pillars of the internal logic.

Maria Eduarda Cechella Rigo, Universidade FEderal de SAnta Maria

Graduated in Physical Education from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). Handball specialist from Faculdade Unyleya. Master's student in the Postgraduate Program in Movement Sciences and Rehabilitation - UFSM. Student of the Bachelor's Physical Education course - UFSM. She was a monitor in the ATHLETICS I and HANDEBALL subjects in the first semester of 2019; and monitors the subjects of COLLECTIVE SPORT GAMES III and HANDEBALL in the second semester of 2019. She was a scholarship holder in the Institutional Teaching Initiation Scholarship Program (PIBID) 2018-2020 and in the Pedagogical Residency Program 2020-2021, as well as a volunteer in this same project in the period 2021-2022. She participates in the study group GEP-GRUPO DE ESTUDOS PRAXIOLOGICOS and was a FIPE fellow-Research Incentive Fund-between 2021-2022 with the project "The production of knowledge of Motor Praxiology". Participates in the Applied Research Group on Strength Training - GPATF

Glauco Nunes Souto Ramos, Federal University of São Carlos

Graduated in Physical Education (1991) and in Pedagogy (1993), both from UNESP in Rio Claro, specialization in Social Communication and Education (1991) from ECA/USP, master's degree in Education (Curriculum) from PUC in São Paulo (1995) and a PhD in Physical Education from FEF/UNICAMP (2002). He is associate professor IV at the Federal University of São Carlos. He has experience in the area of Physical Education and Education, with an emphasis on professional training, internships and school physical education, working mainly on the following topics: school physical education, internships, professional training, secondary education and higher education. He was a preceptor at PET Saúde / UFSCar (2011-2013) in the area of Physical Education; tutor at ProPET Saúde/UFSCar (2013-2014) and volunteer faculty advisor at PIBID/UFSCar in the area of Physical Education (2012-2017). Permanent teacher (since 2018) and Coordinator (as of 05/2021) of the Associated Institution UFSCar of the Professional Master's program in Physical Education on a National Network (ProEF).

Lilian Aparecida Ferreira, Universidade Estadual Paulista, Campus de Bauru

Degree in Physical Education from the School of Physical Education of Jundiaí (1995), Master's degree in Motricity Sciences from the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho/Rio Claro (2000), PhD in Education from the Federal University of São Carlos (2005) and Free -Teacher at UNESP/Bauru in Teaching Physical Education in Basic Education (2023). She is an associate professor at Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho. She has experience in the area of School Physical Education, working mainly on the following topics: didactic-pedagogical dimensions of teaching, teacher training, pedagogy of team sports. Leader of the research group Center for Studies and Research on Tactical Approaches in Collective Sports (NEPATEC), registered with CNPq and certified by UNESP. She coordinates the Body Practices Pedagogy Laboratory. Member of the Society for Qualitative Research in Human Motricity (SPQMH) and the International Association of Motor Praxiology (AIPRAM). Accredited teacher for the Postgraduate Program, professional master's degree, in Teaching for Basic Education at UNESP/Bauru.

Professor of the Physical Education and Sports Course (CEFD) at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). CNPq Leader of the Sports Performance Analysis Study Center (NEPAE/UFSM). Researcher in the areas of Game Analysis, Volleyball, Dynamic Systems and Network Analysis. Post-Doctorate in the Postgraduate Program in Human Movement Sciences at the School of Physical Education, Physiotherapy and Dance at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (ESEFID/UFRGS). PhD in Sports Sciences from the Faculty of Sports of the University of Porto (FADEUP, Porto - PT) (Diploma recognized by the Federal University of Santa Catarina - UFSC), Master and Specialist in High Performance Sports Training from the Faculty of Sports of the University of Porto , Portugal (Diploma recognized by the Federal University of Santa Catarina - UFSC), Specialist in Physical Activity, Motor Performance and health, by the Center for Physical Education and Sports (CEFD) of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), Specialist in Physiological Bases of Personalized Training and Sports Nutrition (Instituto Valorize de Educação Eireli and FACE - Faculdade Casa do Estudante).
