Atividade física durante o dia escolar: um estudo exploratório com alunos dos 2 aos 3 anos

Introdução. Se levou a cabo uma investigação de carácter exploratório e quantitativo centrado na medição objetiva da atividade física que realiza o aluno em uma Escola Municipal Infantil da Corunha, caracterizada por oferecer liberdade de jogo e movimento durante a jornada escolar.
Objetivos: conhecer os níveis de atividade física durante o dia escolar. Analisar o efeito do género, idade e tipo de espaço (interior/exterior) nos níveis de atividade física.
Metodologia: mostra de 18 crianças e meninas do 1º Ciclo de Educação Pré-escolar (0 aos 3 anos). Medição objetiva da atividade física através dos podómetros Geonaute. Para a análise dos dados foi utilizada a estatística não paramétrica.
Resultados: o media de passos diários durante o dia escolar foi de 5440,7 (41,84% dos passos recomendados pelas agências de saúde para estas idades). As raparigas são menos ativas e estão no ar livre se associadas a um maior nível de atividade física.
Discussão: os resultados refutam a tendência sinalizada pela investigação de que o percurso escolar contribui para níveis mais elevados de atividade física em contextos escolares que permitem o jogo e a atividade ao ar livre.
Conclusões. O dia escolar contribuiu com mais de 41% (5.440,7 passos) da quantidade de atividade física recomendada para estas idades no 1º ciclo de Educação Pré-escolar. Se detetar diferenças de género desde épocas muito tempranas a favor das crianças e o ar livre se confirmar como um contexto clave para favorecer a prática da atividade física.
