Empoderar as comunidades através do desporto: explorar o impacto da atividade física no desenvolvimento social e económico

Introdução: As iniciativas desportivas comunitárias têm sido reconhecidas por promoverem a coesão social e o desenvolvimento económico. No entanto, poucas pesquisas examinaram estes impactos nas regiões em desenvolvimento.
Objectivo: Este estudo investiga os benefícios sociais e económicos das iniciativas desportivas comunitárias em Padang, Indonésia.
Metodologia: Este estudo utiliza um desenho transversal quantitativo com Modelação de Equações Estruturais (MEE) para uma validação empírica rigorosa. Participaram 389 participantes de 11 distritos administrativos de Padang.
Resultados: Os resultados indicam que a participação desportiva aumenta significativamente a coesão social, o envolvimento cívico e a identidade comunitária, com variações entre os factores demográficos. Além disso, o desporto comunitário contribui para o crescimento económico local através do estímulo directo ao empreendedorismo e do potencial de investimento a longo prazo, embora os benefícios económicos sejam percebidos com mais intensidade pelos participantes com rendimentos elevados. Discussão: O estudo expande a literatura existente ao demonstrar que a coesão social medeia os benefícios económicos, enfatizando a interligação dos resultados sociais e financeiros.
Conclusões: Pode concluir-se que as políticas desportivas inclusivas podem maximizar os benefícios para o desenvolvimento. Os decisores políticos e os planeadores urbanos devem considerar estas perspectivas ao elaborar programas desportivos para garantir uma distribuição equitativa dos benefícios sociais e económicos.
