Comparação das joelheiras de neoprene de alta e baixa densidade no desempenho de agachamento e CMJ

Resumo

Introdução: As joelheiras de neoprene são amplamente utilizadas como auxiliares ergogénicos em desportos de força para melhorar o desempenho e reduzir o risco de lesões. Recentemente, surgiram modelos de alta densidade (HD), que oferecem maior rigidez e suporte em comparação com os modelos tradicionais de baixa densidade (LD).
Métodos: Este estudo descritivo comparativo incluiu 19 homens treinados (18 a 35 anos) que realizaram testes de agachamento com barra e salto com contramovimento (CMJ) em ambas as condições de uso de joelheira (HD e LD) num desenho de medidas repetidas. As variáveis ​​avaliadas foram a repetição máxima (1RM), a velocidade propulsiva média (VPM), a altura do salto e a potência. Resultados: As joelheiras de HD melhoraram significativamente o 1RM em comparação com as joelheiras de LD (diferença média = 5,45 kg; IC 95% [−8,13; −2,76]; p = 0,0005; tamanho do efeito = 0,26). Não foram observadas diferenças significativas no VPM (β = 0,019 m/s, p = 0,31), na altura do salto (β = -0,67 cm, p = 0,546) ou na potência (β = -12,5 W, p = 0,448).
Conclusões: As joelheiras de alta densidade melhoraram a força máxima sem afetar significativamente a velocidade ou o desempenho do salto. Tanto quanto sabemos, este é o primeiro estudo a comparar diretamente joelheiras de neoprene de alta e baixa densidade, fornecendo novas evidências sobre o impacto ergogénico da densidade do material em indivíduos experientes em treino de força.
