Crianças com síndrome de Down apresentam problemas de equilíbrio corporal que podem prejudicar sua capacidade locomotora e resistência muscular. No entanto, os exercícios por meio de jogos podem melhorar as habilidades locomotoras e a resistência dos músculos centrais. Portanto, este estudo tem como objetivo avaliar as diferenças no efeito entre os níveis de equilíbrio, entre os tipos de exercícios e a interação entre o equilíbrio corporal dinâmico e os exercícios na capacidade locomotora e na resistência dos músculos centrais. Um total de 16 crianças com síndrome de Down foram amostradas e divididas em quatro grupos com base nos níveis de equilíbrio corporal dinâmico (Alto vs. Baixo) e tipo de exercícios (Snake-Leader vs. Engklek). Os exercícios foram realizados em 16 sessões de 60 minutos cada, três vezes por semana durante um período de cinco semanas. O equilíbrio corporal dinâmico foi medido por meio do teste de alcance funcional. A avaliação da capacidade locomotora foi realizada por meio do teste de desenvolvimento motor grosso-2ª edição, enquanto a resistência dos músculos centrais foi mensurada por meio do teste de prancha. A capacidade locomotora e a resistência muscular central foram avaliadas antes e depois do programa de exercícios. A técnica ANOVA two-way foi realizada utilizando a diferença entre os dados pré e pós-teste como variáveis dependentes, enquanto a capacidade locomotora e a resistência à estabilidade do núcleo como variáveis fatoriais com nível de significância de 5%. Os resultados sobre a capacidade locomotora mostraram um efeito principal significativo para o tipo de exercício, F(1, 12) = 10,347, p = 0,007, η2 parcial = 0,463; um efeito principal significativo para os níveis de equilíbrio, F(1, 12) = 38,265, p = 0,000, η2 parcial = 0,761; e nenhuma interação significativa, F(1, 12) = 3,0, p = 0,109, η2 parcial = 0,2. . Os resultados sobre resistência muscular central mostraram efeito principal significativo para tipo de exercício, F(1, 12) = 2,690, p = 0,127, η2 parcial = 0,183; um efeito principal significativo para os níveis de equilíbrio, F(1, 12) = 37,590, p = 0,000, η2 parcial = 0,758; e uma interação significativa, F(1, 12) = 8,979, p = 0,011, η2 parcial = 0,428. O jogo Cobras e Escadas é apropriado para crianças com síndrome de Down com alto e baixo equilíbrio dinâmico para melhorar a capacidade locomotora. O jogo Engklek é adequado para crianças com síndrome de Down com alto equilíbrio dinâmico para aumentar a resistência muscular central, enquanto o jogo Snakes and Ladders é adequado para crianças com síndrome de Down com baixo equilíbrio dinâmico.
