Introduction: Combat sports academies and clubs are undergoing significant expansion within a mature and consolidated market, which poses challenges related to responsible and sustainable management. However, the scientific literature on organizational sustainability has largely focused on conceptual frameworks and general models, with limited empirical evidence on its strategic implementation in this type of organization.
Purpose: To identify organizational sustainability practices—across social, environmental, and economic dimensions—and their relationship with superior performance in federated combat sports clubs located in central Mexico.
Methodology: A quantitative, descriptive–correlational research design was applied, using a non-probabilistic sample of 100 clubs. Data were collected through a questionnaire composed of two scales (organizational sustainability and superior performance), whose psychometric properties were validated through exploratory factor analysis and reliability testing.
Findings: Socially oriented sustainability practices prevail, followed by environmental and economic ones. Although relationships among these dimensions were confirmed, no balance or simultaneity was observed in their implementation. Furthermore, organizational sustainability positively influences superior performance, particularly in terms of quality, but not efficiency.
Discussion: This lack of balance and simultaneity makes these clubs only incipiently sustainable, as they prioritize social aspects over economic and environmental ones.
Conclusion: To achieve greater balance and effectiveness, sustainability must be integrated into the clubs’ mission and business strategy, since its current impact is limited to quality and does not extend to efficiency.
